Seasons

The time of year will affect the price that you will pay for the accommodation. It will also make a difference to the lengths of the line-ups!

Check the date ranges below to get an idea of the most and least popular times to visit Walt Disney World® Resort

For the most popular times (these are Christmas/New Year and for Canadians, March Break) you need to think about booking several months in advance if you want the best choice and price.

Starting in 2008, Disney changed its room rate system to a slightly more complicated one. While there are still clearly defined "seasons" during the year, within each season there are exceptions:
  • For some seasons, Fridays and Saturdays are more expensive than weeknights - though this is largely irrelevant, if you are staying for a week anyway...

  • Most seasons include at least one holiday period in which room rates are higher than the regular rates for that season. i.e. US Thanksgiving during what would otherwise be regular season...

Value season:
1st Jan 2009 - 12th Feb 2009
(All resorts)
9th Aug 2009 - 1st Oct 2009
(Value & Moderate resorts)
19th Jul 2009 - 1st Oct 2009
(Deluxe & Home Away from Home)
29th Nov 2009 - 17th Dec 2009
(All resorts)
Regular season:
19th Apr 2009 - 21st May 2009
(Value & Moderate resorts)
19th Apr 2009 - 18th July 2009 (Deluxe & Home Away from Home)
2nd Oct 2009 - 28th Nov 2009
(All resorts)
Summer season:
22nd May 2009 - 8th August 2009
(Value & Moderate resorts)
Peak Season:
13th Feb 2009 - 3rd Apr 2009
(All resorts)
Holiday Season:
18th Dec 2009 - 31st Dec 2009
(All resorts)
The prices for accommodation reflect these seasons, though the cost of any passes is the same all year round.

According to Disney staff, the least busy times of year as far as line-ups go are (approx):

  • January 01 - February 11

  • August 29 - September 29

  • October 31 - December 19

So if you are flexible with the days that you can take off work, and you want to squeeze in the most attractions possible, you should bear these dates in mind...
